Ahead of today’s New Moon, some very large striped bass have moved into range for fishermen from New Jersey to Boston. There’s even been rumors of big bass still making their way out of the Chesapeake, so there may be more to come!

Maryland/Chesapeake Bay Striper Fishing Report
Maryland’s trophy striper season closed on May 16, and summer regulations allowing one striped bass between 19 and 31 inches per day are in place. There’s been few reports of bass larger than that until you get to the coastal beaches, where large stripers are being reported in the surf on bait in areas like Assateague.
There are still areas closed to striper fishing in the bay, so before fishing, be sure to check the Department of Natural Resources website for a map to locate areas open or closed to striped bass fishing.

New Jersey Striper Fishing Report
Large stripers continue to move along the ocean front of New Jersey, especially from Ocean County, north. Large bass are being caught in the surf, and big numbers of big bass are being caught in the boats. These fish are likely the post-spawn fish from the Delaware River or Chesapeake Bay. Meanwhile the Raritan Bay continues to produce big bass as fish drop out of the Hudson, hungry for bunker.

New York Striper Fishing Report
Jamaica Bay and the Rockaways are holding big schools of menhaden which have attracted migrating striped bass. Most of the big stripers on Long Island seem to be sticking with this bait. Further out along the island, big schools of big bluefish are keeping anglers busy until the big bass slide east.

Connecticut/Rhode Island Striper Report
The western Long Island sound is starting to fill up with larger stripers, while the rivers continue to produce steady action on a mix of holdover and migratory fish.
Bass to 40-pounds plus are chowing down on bunker in Narragansett, while some good bass move along the ocean side as well.

Cape Cod/Massachusetts Striper Report
Good fishing in the Cape Cod Canal continued through much of the week, with reports of big bass north of the Cape improving, including fish up to 50 inches in Boston Harbor!

New Hampshire/Maine Striper Report
Migratory bass in the 30-inch and larger range are beelining for the rivers in Northern New England, where they’re finding warmer temperatures and plentiful baitfish.
