Planer fishing is one of the best methods for filling the coolers full of fish on your boat. There’s a reason commercial fisherman and fishing charter captains consistently use planers as a way to get their clients on fish. These are the three methods explained the best I could explain them. Planer fishing is often associated with catching King Mackerel and Wahoo. While this is very true and a very effective way to catch these fish you will bycatch everything in the sea trolling with planers. I have personally caught mahi mahi, blackfin tuna, cobia and even grouper trolling with planers.
