Galapagos Islands Marlin & Tuna Report
Fellow Anglers,
The incredible striped marlin bite continues in the Galapagos Islands with Guenter and Robert Hoffman having their finest marlin fishing experience in their lifetime. They are avid fly and spinning anglers and were in for a surprise with the large striped marlin of the Galapagos.
Last few days they have engaged some stripeys close to 300 pounds. Lots of bait and marine life have made the days of fishing very entertaining. Our crew has been working to teach the Hoffman brother how to catch marlin on pitch baits and circle hooks.
Fishing can be a learning curve and even experienced anglers will many times be frustrated by the striped marlin tricky bite habits that make them challenging to hook. The Galapagos are a great place to learn and practice for marlin because of the constant action and amount of shots possible in a day.
San Cristobal Island:
January 21 to 23, 2020– Guenter and Robert Hoffman from Germany fished with Captain Jonathan Valiente onboard Mantarraya on Espaola Bank with great sea conditions. Water clarity was good and hundreds of fish have been seen feeding and tailing for the last e days.
Birds, dolphins and sea lions have created a wild marine show to see. They are not experienced fishermen and tried using spinning and standup tackle to pitch ballyhoo to the hungry marlin who also have been rather finicky lately. The Hoffmans managed to release 27 striped marlin from 105 bites in three days. They crew counted 160 marlin raised in the teasers.
