Ecuagringo has been operating in Ecuador since 1993. We partner with several boats to offer fishing & touring on 3 islands in the Galapagos Islands, Manta (Manabi province Ecuador) and Salinas (Santa Elena province Ecuador). Besides the top boats, tackle and crews we offer the best tours in each location. We can customize any type of package and add on touring other countries such as Peru and Bolivia.
Our company was the first to develop the sport fishery in the Galapagos and share with the world the incredible high volume, fast action striped marlin fishing there. We also have been the first to put anglers on 1000 pound plus giant blue marlin out of Isabela Island.
The Galapagos Islands Are The Marlin Capital Of The Pacific
The most common billfish in the Galapagos is without a doubt the striped marlin. The massing potential of striped marlin on the banks around Santa Cruz and San Cristobal Island have been well documented. When large schools of sardines show up to feed on the nutrients of the cooler waters brought by the Humboldt Current the striped marlin are sure to follow. Most years the fishing for striped marlin is year round.
When the water warms up from December to May you can expect the added bonus of blue and black marlin showing up amongst the striped marlin. Most of the banks where striped marlin are fished on will hold blue and black marlin along the drops into deeper water. Convincing anglers to leave the more prolific striped marlin behind to try their luck at blue and black marlin can be challenging. However during the warmer season blue and black marlin can be found mixed with the striped marlin and runs can produce blue, black and striped marlin raised all in the same day!
Want Bigger Fish Like Giant Blue Marlin?
If you want to target only giant blue marlin then Isabela Island is without a doubt the place to fish. The allure of watching a fish 500 to over 1000 pounds crash the spread is what keeps anglers coming back to Isabela Island year after year. When waters are at their warmest generally January to May the blue marlin and some blacks show up to feed along the 3000 to 12,000 foot drops of Isabela Island.
Sometimes fish are 20 miles from port, sometimes you will find them as close as 6 miles feeding amongst the birds diving, the bonito and tuna schools or Humboldt squid. Swordfish are not uncommon to see on the surface sunning themselves in the waters off Isabela. So if you want to try your hand at the biggest of Pacific blue marlin don’t wait to book and adventure with us. The fish show up during the warm water season usually January to May. We have the only 2 boats equipped for this fishery in all of the Galapagos.
